Kaushik Roy | CEO, Vivalon

Kaushik (pronounced “koh-SHEEK”) Roy is the CEO of Vivalon, one of the Bay Area’s largest multi-service nonprofits supporting older adults and people with disabilities. He joined the organization in March 2025, bringing nearly two decades of nonprofit leadership experience.

A respected Bay Area nonprofit and civic leader, he previously led one of San Francisco’s pioneering caregiving organizations, Shanti Project, for 15 years, where the organization grew by more than 450% during his tenure. In addition to his organizational leadership, Kaushik has played an active role in civic life. He served as board president of the San Francisco Interfaith Council for four years and was appointed by Mayor Ed Lee to the City and County of San Francisco’s Aging and Adult Services Commission, where he oversaw budgeting and policy for the $350 million agency. He has also been appointed to several civic bodies by the City and County’s Board of Supervisors and Department of Public Health, including the Palliative Care Taskforce and the Aging LGBTQ+ Policy Task Force. His additional appointments include the Presidio Trust, a federal agency, where he helped develop strategies to increase the presence of historically underrepresented communities in national parks, and the San Francisco HIV/AIDS Providers Network, where he served as an Executive Officer.

He enjoys volunteering for local, grassroots nonprofits, including serving on the board of Ruthless Kindness, which supports survivors of domestic violence and animal abuse, and as an advisor to the Petaluma Health District, Amor Para Todos, and Compass Parents. Kaushik holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley and is a graduate of the Metta Institute’s End-of-Life Care Practitioner Program. He lives in Petaluma with his very patient wife, spirited pre-teen, rambunctious dog, and sweet but perpetually annoyed cat.
